Dreaming of… Lausanne

Another Friday, another beautiful place I am dreaming of!

Reminiscing on my time in the beautiful city of Lausanne of Switzerland is causing me the greatest sense of wanderlust right now. Lausanne is chalk-full of history and has some of the most spectacular views in the world. It sits next to the stunning, bright blue Lake Geneva which separates France and Switzerland! You can see France from Lausanne and many people even commute back and forth over the lake for work everyday by ferry! But it isn’t just the lake that makes the view so spectacular, Lausanne is also bordered by the Jura Mountains which are a part of the French Alps.

One last thing before we get into my review of this quaint, picturesque city… this region is Switzerland is known for something in particular. Its wine-growing! If you end up going to Lausanne you have to at least try their local wines if you can’t get to a vineyard! (I’ll talk some more about this later!)

If You’re Looking to Stay a While…

We stayed at the very upscale and luxurious Beau-Rivage Palace. Seriously, along with the J.K. in Capri, this is one of the best, most beautiful hotels I’ve ever stayed at. It sits right on the lake and so it really has the most gorgeous view.

The hotel has fabulous amenities. A beautiful pool overlooking the lake, a spa, top-class restaurants – you name it. You will not be disappointed! The only thing is its not really in the center of the city and you will have to take some form of transportation if you would like to tour the city center. I don’t know about you, but I would trade the location for this view any day!

If You’re Looking for Something to Do…

First things first, you have to do a proper tour of the city! Like I said Lausanne is rich with fascinating history! I would suggest getting a personal tour guide, especially if you’re really interested in history like my family. The city goes all the way back to the Roman Empire and has very old architecture.

After getting your fix of history and architecture… you’ll need to relax a bit with some wine, right? You must see the vineyards of Lavaux. They’ve even been named as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The wine-growing region is so stunning with its thousands of sprawling grape vines covering the mountain-side. We had the most adorable driver chauffeur us to the Vineyards, he was the ultimate tour guide and had the coolest ride!

Our favorite vineyard was Domaine du Daley. This vineyard had spectacular views, amazing grounds, and delicious wine. They gave us a full tour of the vineyard and cellar and then we had a wine tasting with some charcuterie! If you know me, you know this is my kind of afternoon!

This place is seriously so surreal. Everything almost looks fake because its so beautiful! Thanks for reading about one of my favorite dreamy places! If you got all the way through this long post (first of all, thank you for reading all of it! It means a lot to me <3) leave a comment of a place you’ve been dreaming of recently! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend 🙂
