Dreaming of… Capri

Happy Friday! Today I am driving down to NC to get all of my belongings from my dorm room. My mom and I have quite a bit of driving ahead of us today and tomorrow so I thought it would be fitting to do another “dreaming of” post. Seems fitting for a rainy day full of driving through middle of nowhere!

Last summer after my sister studied abroad in Rome my whole family met up in Italy. We started our trip in one of the dreamiest places I’ve ever been- Capri. This island off of the Amalfi coast is just a quick (a little over an hour) ferry or boat ride away from Naples. This is super convenient if you fly into Naples. The one other thing I have to mention about Capri is that it is a little bit more difficult to get to than some other places on the Amalfi, but it is so worth it. It feels a lot less touristy and packed than a lot of other places.

Capri is just absolutely stunning. Everywhere you look are the most unreal views in the world. This lemon-loving island is seriously on of my favorite places ever. So lets get into it…

If you’re looking to stay a while…

The J.K. Place Capri is hands down the MOST beautiful hotel I’ve ever been to in my life. It has the most gorgeous view of the water, is adorably decorated, and has the best service. They seriously treat all of their guests like royalty. It is the place to ultimately relax. I love the size of it because it is small enough that all of their staff remember each of their guests by name. It is only a few minutes away from the port that all of the boats come in from.

If You’re Looking for a Bite to Eat…

We actually loved eating at the hotel for breakfast and lunch for most of the days we were there. The food is delicious and like I said the service is superb. They have a fabulous porch space looking out on the water where you can eat, sip, and enjoy the view.

The first night we went to Villa Verde– a restaurant hidden back in the tiny, windy streets of Capri. Its set back in an indoor/outdoor building covered with lots of flowers and plants. It definitely gave off secret-garden vibes. Its terrace is so romantic it would be the perfect place for dinner if you were honeymooning! They have a scrumptious menu with a TON of seafood. I got the spaghetti with clams and it was perfection.

Another restaurant I can’t go without recommending is Aurora. It took a while to get to from the J.K Place- you have to take a car and then walk a bit. But again, so worth it. The walk is so beautiful. You’ll be on a tiny narrow path with little store fronts, flower covered alleyways, and the smell of lemon citrus everywhere. Then suddenly the path will open up to the most breathtaking views of the island the bluest water you could possibly imagine. Aurora sits on one of those openings and has one of those jaw dropping views. The view plus the food makes it an experience you don’t wanna miss!

But seriously, it’s Italy, they know how to do food best. You could walk into any tiny restaurant and have the most delicious meal of your life, they know what they’re doing. You just can’t go wrong- especially if you like seafood and pasta!

If You’re Looking for Something to Do…

You could seriously spend hours sitting by the pool at the J.K. Place. And honestly, I would recommend starting by doing that. We were so exhausted the first day from all of the travel (we flew to Naples, toured Pompeii, and traveled to Capri all in one day). So the next day we spent the majority of time relaxing by the pool, enjoying the view.

Explore, Explore, Explore. Our favorite thing at night was to go into the downtown area about two hours before dinner and explore all the side streets and alleyways. It is so much fun to investigate how the roads wind and open up. There is also amazing shopping 🙂

Go to Anacapri. Anacapri is the second, small town on Capri. It is sort of like the ‘Sconset of Capri. This area is definitely quieter and less crowded than Capri. There are more small authentic shops rather than big names, which is so much more fun! I wish I could remember the name of a tiny linen shop my whole family adored.

Go on a boat tour around the island. The best way to see Capri is from the water! Chartering a boat for the day was seriously the best thing we did while in Capri. We were able to go see Positano and other parts of the Amalfi, the blue grotto, and take in more breathtaking views you can’t get from on land. We stopped and met friends that were also traveling at a stunning hidden lunch spot on the Nerano Bay. The name of the restaurant was Conca Del Sogno it was all around fabulous.

There truly aren’t enough photographs in the world to capture the beauty of this island! I can’t wait to go back some day… but for now I’ll dream a little dream of lemon-covered Capri. Thanks for reading xx.
