Hi guys! My current obsession are these Saint Laurent look alike sunglasses. They really look like they’re designer – super sturdy and have great shape – but they’re literally under $20.

I have a hard time spending a ton on shades when I know I am bringing them to the beach and pool all summer. You just know they’re obviously going to get a bit roughed up.

My favorite way to purchase sunglasses is occasionally splurge on a classic pair I know I’ll love forever (like these Ray Bans) and then buy a more cheaper pairs that are more fun that I don’t have to worry about losing or getting sandy. However, sometimes it can be hard to find cheap pairs that don’t actually look, well, cheap.

Three Things to Look for that Make Sunglasses Appear to be Designer

1. Shape

First of all, there are certain shapes that some designers have truly dubbed as their own. For example, Saint Laurent has dubbed the flat top cat eye shape and the heart shape as their’s. You start to catch on to some of these shapes and see them being recreated. Look out for them.

2. Material

Next, you want to look at what its made out of. Likely all of the sunglasses I rounded up today are plastic (because they’re all under $20). But again, it is more about what material they appear to be. You don’t want them to look super plastic-y.

3. Weight

The last thing I typically look at is the weight of the pair of sunnies. Do they look like they’re heavier and more substantial? This one goes hand and hand with the material. They heavier the pair is, typically the nicer and more expensive it is.
