I typically always think of black as a color worn in the winter along with other dark colors but recently I’ve been loving black in the summer. It can be really elegant and classy if done right.
Details on this Black and White Look:
Obviously the star of this look is this gorgeous one-shoulder bodysuit that ties in a bow on your back. The tie is a silk material and has almost tropical looking flowers that are white, blue, and green. This bodysuit actually comes with a matching scrunchy made of the same fabric as the tie- I love it!
I love how from the front this outfit is totally black and white, but when I turn around there are so many pops of color. Its like business in the front, party in the back! But I seriously love how pops of color look along with black in the summer. Speaking of which, today I am going to share three ways to help make a summer look including black look more “summer-y” and less “winter-y.” All of these little tips kind of go hand in hand.
1. Pair Black in the Summer with Lighter Neutrals
In the winter you typically see black with other dark colors. So in the summer, in effort to brighten a look up I would suggest pairing black with a white, beige, or gold color scheme.
You can see in this look I paired the black bodysuit with a white denim skirt and gold accents in my jewelry and handbag.
2. Pair Black in the Summer with a Pop of Color
I love adding a pop of bright color to black in the summer. Its obvious in this look the color is in the tie of the bodysuit and scrunchies but you could also do this through accessories like a bright red handbag!
3. Texture (like linen or rattan) Can Totally Transform a Look
Lastly, in the summer I love pairing black with different “summer-y” textures like rattan and linen. For example, I wore this look (above) the other day to the beach. I love how the bathing suit has a belt that looks rattan-like. I paired it with a straw hat and rattan bag and wore a linen button up as a coverup!
