The August Palette. (24)

I missed July and I am so very sorry!! We all know how crazy life gets in the summer! I love August… there is something so nostalgic about this month. I love August for what it is… SUMMER! As much as I love fall, I am not ready for it yet! August is the perfect month to start to lean into that pre-fall color palette. I love to lean into neutrals this time of year and specifically wear white as much as possible (before you can’t!!)

The trends and style highlights I am loving this month are old school prep, capris, woven bags, 90s inspired eyewear, classic flip flops, and (as mentioned already) neutrals!

Lets discuss…

Old School Prep (Polo Revival)

We are currently seeing a major prep revival! However, it is breathing new life. The new preppy is in line with quiet luxury and old money aesthetics – think neutrals, polos, tennis inspired looks etc. There has been a major Polo revival (not that it ever went out, Mr. Ralph Lauren can do no wrong) – the flag sweaters, and branded baseball caps are a hot commodity.

Pro-tip! If you wear a size XS or S in women’s – you can wear a size L or XL in the boys flag sweaters. Or, I guess, any Polo sweaters for that matter. I own a boys L and it fits me perfectly. An ever so slight, boxier fit but much cheaper! You know I love a hack to save cash!

Capris

I know this will be a divisive topic. Here is the the thing. I do not love all capris. But some… I can appreciate! I definitely am here for a cropped black Ponte pant with a little black heel. This is a timeless look.

Woven Bags

There is a chance this has been on my past few monthly palette posts… whoops! I cannot put down my woven Dragon Diffusion Nantucket bag. Also, I am obsessed with some newer Dragon Diffusion silos and of course… all things Bottega. I love how woven bags transition into fall. The texture is also a great way to add interest to any outfit.

90’s Inspired Eyewear

Currently fixated on these Miu Miu sunglasses! They are on sale here. They remind me of the Sting scene in Princess Diaries… you know the one (but in the best way possible!)

Classic Flip Flops

The resurgence of classic thong flip flops are nod to Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy’s timeless and effortless style. They are the easiest thing to grab and throw on in the summer.

Pre-fall Color Palette

The best way to seamlessly transition to fall (we won’t get fall temps for a while here in DC!) is via a pre-fall color palette in summer silhouettes. AND starting accessorize with fall accessories... but I am not there quite yet!

Hope you have an amazing August and end to your summer…xx
